Game Review: Jibber Jabble

I love a good party game and anytime a lot of friends can have a good time at the table with a fun game, I’m the first one there! So let’s take a look at a new pocket-sized party game that is coming to your table soon!

Jibber Jabble is designed by Cassie Sikes with art by Sai Beppu. It plays 3-10 people in approximately 15 mins. It is published by allplay.

Overview

In Jibber Jabble players will spell out clues together one letter at a time and try to guess the secret word. After six rounds, score and see how well you did!

Gameplay

In Jibber Jabble one player tries to guess a secret word that everyone else knows and the others attempt to help them by spelling out clues one letter at time. The key is that no one can say what word they are trying to spell!

The guesser shows a secret word card to other players without looking at it themselves. Then all other players start to spell a clue one letter at time. If a player thinks they can’t be fixed or the clue is over they say stop. Play continues until 3 clues have been spelled.

Once you start spelling you cannot repeat a clue or communicate in any way with others. You can say JIBBER to show you understand the clues or JABBLE to show you are confused.

After the 3rd clue, the guesser gets one guess on the secret word. If they are right they get 1 point. After 6 rounds they count up their points and the player with the most points wins. There are also hint cards that can give players limited ways to communicate.

Overview

I really enjoy a fun party game and look for ways to explore that space with new games. I think one of the least used is cooperative party games, and with Jibber Jabble I think we have a new entry into this category that is light and fun. When everyone is working together for an end-game score it can be fun, and in this way players are still scoring points but they are all moving towards a same goal.

I love the art, it’s a cute little box and the size is perfect for travel. You can take it to a game night, bar or day out and it’s an easy to go game for all. These new small boxes from allplay are great and portable.

So if you need a cute little party game for your next night out you should find this one a perfect fit for any group size, big or small! So grab this pocket-sized bundle of fun and take it to your next game night and see if you can all be on the same page as you attempt to spell out clues in Jibber Jabble!
