Game Review: Vegas Strip

I love a good bluffing game, and I especially love it when you have someone on your side trying to make all the bluffs and claims seem legit. Give me two werewolves and we can sneak around together and do our best to win…but what if those tricky werewolves were instead trying to take down some of the biggest Casinos in Las Vegas while at the same time making sure their competitors get caught? Well buckle up and let’s see what it looks like in today’s game as we take a trip to the Strip!

Vegas Strip is a new game from Allplay designed by Peter C Hayward. It is illustrated by Vincent Dutrait. The game plays 2-6 players in 40 mins.

Overview:

In Vegas Strip, players try to outwit their competition to figure out which Casinos you want to win out at or which you need to play just under your best. Walk away with the most money and you are the winner!

Gameplay:

Vegas Strip is played either individually or with partners. 2-3 player games have all solo then from 4-6 you have partners. These partners switch each round so you will have to see based on turn order who you have. Once you have that determined, the players decide which of their two Casinos will be rigged and which will be secure. From this players will be able to play their own well with that knowledge but won’t know the others.

Rigged Casinos will pay the winner but no one else. Secure Casinos will kick out the leader and then pay everyone else their value in chips. Players take turns clockwise playing one of their numbers at any Casino, knowing their own status but not the others.

As you see where people play it can be helpful. For example, you can’t play a 7 the highest number in your own Rigged Casino. You also can’t tie whoever is leading in a Casino and no more than two tiles to a Casino. Each character has a rule for their Casino as well that must be followed.

Once money is collected, partners split it and then another round starts, this time with new partnerships and possible Casino changes. After 3 rounds the 2 individual players with the most and second most money win the game!

Impressions:

There is something about bluffing in a game that just really speaks to me. Here in Vegas Strip the bluffing and deduction of where to place and when you place is so important to help you figure out how to succeed over the Casino runners. The more you play this one the easier it is to see where you need to play based on what your opponents do.

The art is gorgeous and the style is smooth. I love Dutrait artwork and this is a great example of his quality work. The characters all have fun pop on the cards and the graphic design is simple and clear to see what is on the table.

We play a lot of 4-6 player games around here and this is one that I wanted to try for that reason. Six player games made this easy to get for bigger groups and it plays so smooth and quick that we often run it back twice!

If you are looking for a game with bluffing and deduction then Vegas Strip is the game you want to get to your table! Check it out and see if it is something you and your friends enjoy as you try to outwit them and be the biggest winner at the Casinos!
