I love a good abstract game and Gigamic always comes through with some fun ones for me and my family. Today I want to tell you about the game Quantik and what makes it an abstract game you should check out!
Quantik is designed by Nouri Khalifa and plays 2 players. It is published by Gigamic games. It plays in approximately 10-15 minutes.
Overview:
In Quantik, two players go head-to-head in an abstract challenge where each player is trying to place one of four unique shapes in a row, column or region to win the game.
Gameplay:
Each player takes the eight pieces of light or dark colored shapes. These are spheres, cylinders, cubes and cones and players will have 2 of each. The game board is placed in the middle of the table and the players alternate taking turns until the end-game state is reached.
On your turn, place one of your pieces on an empty space on the board. You cannot place a shape in the same row, column or region where you opponent has a piece in the same shape. This applies for the whole game as players alternate turns.
The game ends when the first player to place a fourth shape in the same row, column or region immediately wins the game. If you cannot place a shape on your turn you immediately lose the game.
Impressions:
I love a good abstract game and this one was a perfect addition to my collection Quantik is quick and easy to play and doesn’t require a huge entry level of education to get going. I was able to play this with a wide variety of ages and experience levels of gaming. When we got this to table I also loved the presence-it is small and compact and gives you a simple but elegant look. It’s a game someone who doesn’t play games might give a chance because it looks simple enough to try.
Overall Quantik is the addition to your next two-player game night you will want to re-rack and play a few times over. It is a welcome, deceptively easy quick game that will keep you on your toes in a head-to-head battle but also give you an easy way to enjoy some time with your favorite gaming partner. Make sure to give this one a try!
