Game Review: Food Fight

It’s time to have lunch with the whole Mickey Mouse crew! But what happens when the food gets moving fast and starts flying around the room? Crazy times will start when this game hits the table! Let’s take a closer look at this new title that will have you ready to enjoy a tasty treat with all your friends!

Food Fight with Mickey and Friends is published by The OP. It plays 2-5 players in approximately 15 mins. The game was released in 2021.

Overview

In Food Fight players compete as different characters in the Mickey and friends world each with their own food tray trying to get rid of all of their food and splatter it on their friends!

Gameplay

Each player takes a food tray and the main serving tray is placed in the middle of the game area. There are 5 different food types and 3 different types of dice. Each player gets one of the three types of dice and a random assortment of the food pieces are placed on their board based on the player count.

Players will all participate in this game at the same time, rolling their three dice and moving food around the table. You will roll a food type, a direction and a number of items and then move them to the location selected. So for example, if you roll a hamburger/left/2 you can move up to two of your hamburgers from your tray to the player on your left.

The game continues to move at this fast-paced speed as food pieces go flying around until someone shouts “Done!” to show they are the winner of the round. That player is awarded a medal and the game is reset. The first player to receive three medals is the winner!

The game can be played with some different variations as well with trying to collect food items to make sets or a mode that has you sliding your food trays to the left or right. These are advanced versions of the game and definitely not the place to start but after a few plays I would encourage you to give them a try!

Impressions

Food Fight is a fun time with some fun characters that slides in perfect with other family games in our collection. This game is bound to entertain a wide variety of family members from young told and is something that even the most inexperienced gamer will pick up on.

The game is a version of another simple game many are familiar with called LCR so that is a great place to start when teaching the one. The OP even has a different but similar game called Astro Trash that our family loves. The difference here being the Mickey and Friends theme and the food vs space junk components. Although I like the chunky space ones of Astro, these food items are a lot of fun also.

This game will appeal to you if enjoy real-time speed games like LCR, Slamwhich or other games rhat have a lot going on all at once. If you don’t like that style of game it may not be the best fit for you and your group. Give it a chance and let us know what you think of it!
